EXPERIMENTAL ARCHITECTURE PIECES ON THE FIELD OF SPARKS

KUBUS

2019

“While creating works of natural art, the creator purposefully strives to recreate harmony with nature. Now nature is not just a subject of representation, but a different kind of attitude, when the artist directly applies natural materials, objects, energies, locations in the work, i.e. the creation of direct physical contact with nature is the essence of the creative process.”

STARES

2019

WOVEN (SK) ANNA CSÉFALVAY, MARIANNA MACZOVÁ, DANICA PISTEKOVÁ, VERONICA MICHALIKOVÁ

“The Stares project is not only questioning the archetype of the stairs in a new context, but is the embodiment of the idea of “the path becoming the goal”.

GATE

2019

SZABÓ PÉTER RÓBERT, TÁNCOS ANNA, ZÉTÉNYI ZSÓFIA (H)

The symbolic-functional layers of meaning arising from orientation unfold along the installation's three most important, mutually equivalent parameters: the sign itself is the wall appearing in the landscape; the invitation is the door on the wall; and the arrival is the departure of the wall, which serves as a bench.

HOMBÁR

2020

BALÁZS PÉTER & THE STUDENTS OF THE VISUAL ART INSTITUTE, EGER, DEPARTMENT OF NATURE ART (H)

This installation is a reinterpretation of a traditional building designed to store seeds and grain. The seed is the symbol of continuation, a new beginning. We aim to create a gathering place for the forces of nature as a contribution to the revival of the life-giving energies of Ipolytarnóc.

SLANTED HOUSE

2020

PARADIGMA ARIADNÉ (H)

The Slanted House by Paradigma Ariadné emphasizes the relationship with the landscape, following the slope of the terrain and abandoning horizontality.. READ THE FULL ARTICLE!

KALEIDOSCOPIUM

2020

WOVEN (SK)

Kaleidoscopium is a modular dome with several modes covering depending on the fill-outs of the triangular surfaces. One can use cardboard to make it into a bunker or coloured foils to let the sunshine in and turn it into a Kaleidoscope. Leave it open to observe the stars at night! Not too large to be a danger, but big enough to create a "magnet" in the middle of the village to attract children and grown ups alike. We like the idea of a universal object, which can be interpreted in many ways and co-created by additional layers.

KONZOL

2021

BIVAK (H)

Manuality, «making», thinking with hands and learning through empirical methods are the focus of our studio. For the installation in Ipolytarnóc, we use the soil as a formwork for the concrete.
The surface of the soil, like a textural imprint appearing on concrete is a new and exciting experiment.

LIGHTHOUSE

2021

GRAU (SK)

The Lighthouse is an attempt to create a cultural space following local and regional architectural traditions: the pavilion is intended to create a space for the community and give a new perspective to the locals. Another unique feature of the project is that the GRAU concept will have more functions than the previous Field of Sparks installations: it will serve not only as a visual attraction but also as an auditorium. This work of art features both functionality and aesthetics”

SLEEPING BEAUTY

2021

VSVU(SK), Studio VVV

“There will be a language barrier between the locals and the Studio VVV team: we want to simplify this idea, this message, but also to capture it emotionally. With a formally simple installation, we refer to the story of Sleeping Beauty, an internationally well-known tale. We believe that this concept also refers allegorically to the place where the installation is located: Ipolytarnóc is a ‘sleeping’ region struggling to find a new perspective.”

SPARKS OF THE FIELD

BME BASS – BUDAPEST ARCHITECTURE STUDENT STUDIO (H)
Álmosdi Donát, Révész Tamás, Paragi András

Fire has always played an important role in the culture of mankind. Fire gave us warmth, food, and light in the darkness of the night, so it might be the most essential element in our history. Countless beliefs, customs, sayings, and metaphorical associations are also connected to fire. It is an element that forms the center of many social experiences, highlighting the experience of time spent together. Proverbs are a constantly recurring element of fairy tales. People wandering around the world could meet around fire, and food, and exchange information about the dangers and joys of the world. Objects and stories could change owners. Some left poorer and some richer the next day, but everyone changed after the evening spent by the fire. This installation is a reminder of mankind’s basic needs,
its most simple experiences and elementary habits put into a contemporary perspective.

ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS AND DESIGN, Bratislava / VŠVU (SK)

This installation is a testament to the power of survival. It is inspired by the natural world and incorporates several key concepts that symbolize the resilience and tenacity of living organisms. At the heart of the design is the idea of mimicry, which is reflected conceptually in the use of raw wooden logs, that are put into a new context. From the usual and mostly vertical position to a flowy arrangement in which they, in some parts, copy the terrain shape and in others, mirror it. This mimetic quality is achieved through the use of tree logs, which are in part incorporated into the tensegrity structure which makes some parts appear to levitate, creating a sense of wonder.
