In 2024 Field of Sparks invites you to climb into the imaginary closet with us in Ipolytarnóc and explore the vast variety of superstitions, natural phenomenons and peculiar characters through the lens of history, contemporary art, and architecture.
The 5th Artweek: CABINET OF CURIOSITIES will be a showcase of raw and fresh wisdom, truth, freedom, hard work, performance, laughter, and joy. Join us as a visitor, volunteer, or facilitator in Ipolytarnóc on the first week of July!

Our annual building camp and artweek begin with the involvement of our partners, enthusiastic locals, and volunteers. This year as part of the Cabinet of Curiosities theme, we are building two installations on the Field, both strongly connected to the connection between humans and nature! More info is coming soon! On Friday, we invite you to join us to finish our experimental architecture pieces on the Field of Sparks, get to know the village of Ipolytarnóc, watch a movie with us in our “cinéma plein air” at the Kiss Major and dance with us under the trees in our garden!
PROGRAMS:
July 5, 12h - July 6, 17h – experimental photography at the Kiss Major with Laczkó Péter (vandorfenykepesz.hu). We invite the whole village to take their “ambrotype” portraits: a positive picture made of a photographic negative on glass backed by a dark surface.
July 5, 17h – ceramic workshop for all at the Tájház
July 5, 21h – soft disco and fire at Kiss Major

OUR STORY
The adventure, now known as Field of Sparks, began in 2018 in Ipolytarnóc, a small village in Nógrád County, where we started organising an ARTWEEK with great enthusiasm to change, connect, involve and create intercultural interactions. Artists, architects and designers came together to create a new narrative for the village of Ipolytarnóc in collaboration with the locals, opening up new perspectives, creating a new identity, nurturing community spirit and local values, and using art as a common language.
Field of Sparks is a playground for artists’ free experimentation, for locals: exciting events and connections to rewrite their stories, and a place full of surprises for visitors to discover the works embedded in the surrounding fairytale nature.
A celebration of the seemingly incompatible: big city and small village, old and young, Roma and non-Roma, planned and organic, man-made and natural.
We like things raw, fresh, curious and wild
We are implementing the following principles in our work:
1. consistency is more important than perfection
2. the life lessons always live in action
3. words are powerful, we use them wisely
4. decisions from a place of love not fear
5. overthinking can not be solved by more thinking

We fight against the intellectual vacuum of our time, and we believe that joyful and free creative processes deliver elementary experiences, which we highly value.
We strive for functional aesthetics in every part of the project, particularly in our experimental architectural work. We aim to sensitise every participant in this adventure to social imbalances, to encourage a more profound understanding of each other and in this way create a new kind of reality. We believe that art is the best tool of expanding the intellectual space.
Field of Sparks is a contemporary architectural and artistic outdoor experience, a place to enable real connections,
a progressive intellectual and physical creative process, an international ARTWEEK with artists from the Visegrad countries, knowledge and skillsharing, inspirational and enthusiastic collaborative work.
We operate a Central and Eastern European art base. We build large-scale experimental architectural and nature art installations.
We create works of fine art on house walls
We organize professional workshops and university seminars.
We organize theatre performances, roundtable discussions, film festivals, concerts and many more.
